WHAT is YMOVE?
Due to barriers faced by Youth in gaining and maintaining employment, the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth has designed the YMCA, Motivation, Opportunity, Vision, Employment program (YMOVE) to help target Youth in tackling issues such as social-economic, cultural barriers, lack of support/direction, low education/skills, ineffective and inaccurate job searching techniques.
WHO can use the YMOVE program?
Priority Youth between the ages of 15 and 30 who are unemployed or underemployed reside within the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM).
HOW can YMOVE help?
YMOVE's employment specialists/coaches will work to provide the necessary guidance and interventions, to help youth achieve success. The coaches will work closely with the youth to explore and develop short and long-term planning, with the ultimate goal of employment.
The YMOVE program places a strong emphasis on monitoring and on-going support and will incorporate a variety of interventions, which may include:
Youth will also have access to the resources and programs within the YMCA Enterprise Centre of Halifax/Dartmouth. Based on the client's needs or goals, referrals will be made to various outside agencies or programs.
HOW can I get involved with YMOVE?
Youth may contact the employment specialist directly, or simply call for more information. Community groups and partners may also make referrals to the YMOVE program by connecting with an employment coach. The coaches are located in the YMCA Enterprise Centre of Halifax and Dartmouth as a home base, but are able to meet youth at various locations if required.
